What is the SO Festival?
Between June 28 and July 7, 2013, SO Festival 2013 is set to transform Lincolnshire’s coastal district of East Lindsey into an international arts venue with spectacular visual art, street theatre, world-class performers and dance acts.
Since 2009, East Lindsey District Council has worked with Arts Council England to stage one of the East Midlands’ largest and most diverse outdoor cultural events – SO Festival!
Full of colour, dance, arts and music, SO Festival had strong links with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Cultural Olympiad, having been staged on Open Weekend in both 2010 and 2011.
SO Festival doesn’t just bring arts, entertainment and culture to East Lindsey, it also attracts thousands of people from near and far. This helps the local economy and also challenges people’s perceptions of the district and encourages them to spend time with us, discovering the many attractions on offer in East Lindsey.
So what’s going on in Horncastle?
Horncastle is going to be turned into the Enchanted Village. From 7.30pm on Saturday the 29th of June the town will come alive with installations, entertainment, and live action. The streets will be closed and there are some surprises in store… this is the first time Horncastle has been selected as a location for SO Festival and we want as many people down as possible to support it.
There will be representations of famous local residents, including William Marwood and Joseph Banks… all for free, with late night shopping.
I’m interested, give me more…
Head on over to the SO Festival website and they will give you everything you need to know. They may even convince you to follow some more of the festival.
